The Revere Beach International Sand Sculpting Festival was last weekend, and the weather was spectacular. This was an especially good thing, because this was the event’s 20th birthday party.
Here’s a picture I took of the traditional central sculpture. It was a birthday cake, the “decorations” symbolized the themes of past years, and there was even an honest to goodness “sand castle” on top!

Each year I try to capture time-lapses of my favorite sculptures. This year I didn’t have as much time to do this as I have in the past. However, I did get some parallel shots of what turned out to be the winners of the festival. Shots from my first day had neat sunbeams, shots from my second day captured the sculptors, and shots on the day after the festival, sans-crowds, came out fine.
Jobi Bouchard’s “Blend In” was an intricate, impressive sight to behold.
It’s no wonder that he won First Place, Sculptor’s Choice and People’s Choice!
Slavian Borecki from Poland won Second Place for this untitled beauty.
Susanne Ruseler from the Netherlands got Third Place for this cute creation that she named “Dunner” (possibly after a cat that she knows personally).
Here are some of the other great sculptures.
As I said, and you can see, what a great year!
Yet, my favorite year still remains 2019 :)
This is my favorite sculpture from back then. Click it to watch a time-lapse.
There are other time-lapses like this in my post From Sand to Sand@Revere.
Recently I got inspired to memorialize the sculptures from 2019 in a different way.
Here is a 360° interface to time-lapses of my favorite sculptures from that year that I’ve dubbed “Sand Sculpture Sanctuary.”
If you can’t see the above 360° image, or the interface doesn’t work, you can also access it directly on Kuula (right now, and in January :)
Enjoy & Have a Great Weekend!
